Traditional Music
Traditional music is alive and well in Cabinteely! Not only is traditional music performed but at least one person is actively engaged in composing new pieces.
Pat O'Connor, music teacher, player and composer has recently completed a book, Cuimhneachán Ceoil, which contains 53 new compositions, as well as the stories behind the compositions. As you know there is a story behind every piece of music!
The book contains the sheet music for each song as well as the story that inspired the music. A CD of the tracks is also being produced.
We are currently working on a second CD which we hope will issue by the end of the year. The new CD is being recorded in Belturbet at the Railway Road Studios and will feature the music of Fintan McManus, Eddie O'Kelly, Martin Donohoe, Brian O'Connor, Lucy Costello and Eoghan Stapleton
